Benediction
Productions, Inc.
Benediction
Productions Inc.
(formerly Citywide Youth Ministries) is a professional,
non-profit theatre company located in the Charles Village/Waverly
areas of Baltimore City. We have been providing quality
entertainment for families in the Baltimore and tri-state
regions for more than 20 years. The company was established
with the purpose of blessing disenfranchised communities
through the development and presentation of original African-American
themed works.
Decades
later, Benediction Productions, Inc. (BPI) is still committed
to producing ground-breaking, entertaining and innovative
art. We are not only a production company, but also a workshop
where under-represented minority writers, actors and directors
can explore ideas with the understanding that their works
will carry on the BPI purpose: to explore who African Americans
are as a people and bring them closer together.
Through
our productions, training program and young artists’
workshops particularly for inner city youth, BPI continues
to serve as a focal point for the talents of established
and emerging playwrights, actors, directors, designers and
technicians in urban America. This is not only to salute
and acknowledge those have come before us and paved the
way, but also to educate audiences who may not be familiar
with these authors and their place in the history of American
theatre.
